Terminal One is also being upgraded as part of the DAA’s €2bn plan to Transform Dublin Airport. The T1 programme will see several hundred million euro invested in the existing terminal and its related facilities. Planning permission was sought in December 2006 for a €55 million extension to the existing terminal at Dublin Airport. The 7,500 square metre extension, which will be built at the north-western corner of the terminal, will provide more circulation space for passengers, an enlarged and reconfigured check-in area at the northern end of the terminal, and additional retail space. The Terminal One extension will dramatically improve the passenger journey to both Pier A and the recently opened Pier D. The DAA was granted planning permission for the T1 Extension in April 2007, but this was appealed to An Bord Pleanála (The Irish Planning Appeals Board) and a decision is expected shortly. Subject to planning consent, the first elements of the extension will be ready for use in early 2009. |
