Work has started on building the outside walls of the new T2 energy centre at Dublin Airport.
The external walls are made from a series of pre-cast concrete panels that have an anti-graffiti layer which gives them the appearance of granite.
The walls will also contain a series of shutter-type louvres that will allow air to circulate within the building while keeping rain out. This natural ventilation system will help cool the T2 energy centre and its new gas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant.
The T2 energy centre, which is being built by Irish construction firm Leo Lynch, is located at the eastern end of the T2 site, close to the hangar currently occupied by Ryanair.
