Siemens Wins T2 Contract

Siemens Wins T2 Contract

The DAA has awarded Siemens a €40 million contract to design and build the baggage handling system for Terminal Two.

Siemens will design, build and integrate the new baggage handling system for T2. The new system includes six kilometres of conveyor belts to route all checked baggage through security screening, before sorting them by flight number for specific destinations. Siemens, which previously designed and built the new baggage handling system at Cork Airport, will also supply six new baggage claim units for T2.

Siemens Ireland chief executive Werner Kruckow said the company was delighted to have won the T2 contract. ”Siemens is committed to providing the technology and support required to create a safe and stress free environment for passengers travelling through Dublin,” he added.

Siemens staff will begin work onsite at T2 in the autumn. The baggage handling system contract is one of 17 separate T2 construction contracts, 14 of which have now been placed.
