New Year Safety Campaign Launched

Contractors working on the various Transforming Dublin Airport construction projects currently onsite have been urged to continue to put safety first.

The New Year New Start safety campaign is specifically aimed at ensuring that operatives returning to work after the holidays concentrate on safety.

“Construction workers often tend to lose focus after the return to work in the New Year and we want to ensure that doesn’t happen here,” said DAA Programme Safety Adviser, Noel Brennan.

New Year safety posters have gone up in recent days at major construction projects such as T2 and T1X. As part of hte DAA's New Year New Start campaign, all construction contractors have agreed that they will:

•     Inspect and ensure their sites are safe places of work for their employees to return to
•     Carry out a job or task specific briefing with their employees
•     Review any accidents or near misses during 2008 and the lessons learned from those incidents.
