Transforming Dublin Airport

Work Starts Onsite For T2 Baggage System

Work starts this week to install the baggage handling system in Dublin Airport’s new passenger terminal T2.

German company Siemens, which is one of the 17 main T2 contractors, is starting work this week to install the steel frame that will support the six kilometres of conveyors that form the backbone of the new baggage system.

T2’s baggage handling system will transport all bags through security screening, before sorting them by flight number for specific destinations. Siemens will also supply six baggage claim units for T2.

Using advanced and intelligent IT and automation systems, the new baggage handling system should help streamline ground handling services at T2.
