Transforming Dublin Airport

Pier E Glazing Underway

Glazing work has begun at Pier E, the new boarding gate facility that is being built as part of the T2 project at Dublin Airport.

Work on the glazing and the panelling for the exterior walls of the new pier started last week at the southern end of Pier E which is the furthest from T2.

Pier E contractor PJ Hegarty & Sons has subcontracted the envelope work for the building to Architectural Aluminium, which also worked on the Pier D boarding gates at Dublin Airport. The glass for Pier E is being produced by the Swiss company Glas Trösch, based in Butzberg, near Basel.

Pier E, which is 450 metres long, has 13,800 square metres of façade, which includes a very significant proportion of glazing. The new pier will have parking for up to 19 short-haul or 8 long haul aircraft.
