Transforming Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport To Get New Telecommunications Network

Work has started on building a new telecommunications network at Dublin Airport.

The new campus area network (CAN) is part of a major utilities upgrade within the €2 billion Transforming Dublin Airport investment programme. The new network will carry voice and data services and meet the needs of the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and its customers and tenants.

The project involves upgrading the existing underground ducts for cables, improving internal cable routes, upgrading existing communications rooms and providing a backbone of fibre and copper for the new improved network.

Work started this week in Terminal One and the network will eventually cover the entire Dublin Airport campus. The Dublin Airport CAN project, which is being managed by the DAA and built by Mercury Engineering, will be completed in three phases, the last of which will be finished in the second quarter of 2010.
