Area 14, a new €15 million lower ground floor check-in facility, opened in May 2007. The new check-in area, which is currently used by Aer Lingus for flights to Britain, Italy and Germany, was built in the former basement of the existing terminal. Area 14 has 25 check-in desks and can handle up to four million departing passengers per year. It offers passengers a vibrant and efficient environment in which to check-in for their flights. Lighting is a central element of Area 14’s sleek modern look. The unique disc lighting system is an uplifting feature of the design that also provides an element of fun within the new check-in area. The 56 individual ceiling discs incorporate hidden lights that can be easily altered for different colour effects. Since Aer Lingus is the current occupant of Area 14, we have provided a wash of green to each disc to compliment the airline’s own colour scheme. |
