Accessibility Statement

This site has just been launched and is currently undergoing an accessibility audit. A fuller statement regarding the compliance with accessibility guidelines will be available shortly. If you have any questions or comments, please email us at webmaster@daa.ie.

Structured semantic markup has been used for the pages. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2 tags for subtitles and so on. Screen reader users can skip through the header hierarchy by using ALT+INSERT+1, ALT+INSERT+2 and so on.

Access keys

The majority of browsers support jumping to certain links by typing defined keys on your keyboard, so called 'access keys'. Press ALT + access key on Windows or Control + access key on Macintosh.

The following access keys have been defined for this site:

  • Access key s - Skip to main content
  • Access key 1 - Homepage
  • Access key 6 - Help
  • Access key 8 - Terms and Conditions
  • Access key 9 - Contact
  • Access key 0 - Accessibility Statement

Links

Many links feature title attributes describing the link in more detail, unless the link text already fully describes the target. Links are generally written to make sense out of context and link text is never duplicated on a particular page.

Many browsers (such as JAWS, Home Page Reader, Lynx and Opera) can extract the list of links on a page and allow you to browse the links separately from the page.

Some links on the site will open a new browser window. New windows are never opened without a warning in the text.

Images

All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.

Visual design

  1. This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
  2. This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
  3. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
