Dublin Airport Authority plc (“DAA”), through its wholly owned subsidiary Aer Rianta International c.p.t. (“ARI”), currently holds a 24.125% interest in Birmingham International Airport (BIA). BIA is the fifth largest passenger airport in the UK and the second largest outside of London and handled just under 9.5 million passengers during the 12 months ended 31 March 2006.
ARI and Macquarie Airports Group, which also holds a 24.125% interest in BIA, have announced their intention to explore the disposal of their combined 48.25% interest by way of a joint sale process.
Any decision to proceed with a divestment of their combined interest will be dependent upon the quality of the offers that might be received.
