A construction worker was fatally injured at a construction site at Dublin Airport this morning (Wed February 27th).
The accident happened close to the old terminal building where construction workers were re-grading the apron. The worker, who was employed as a mechanic by one of the DAA’s sub-contractors, was repairing a bulldozer at the time of the accident.
The Health & Safety Authority and the Gardai are investigating the cause of the accident and the DAA is co-operating fully with those investigations. The DAA will also conduct its own investigation into the cause of the accident.
DAA Chief Executive Declan Collier said: “On behalf of the chairman Gary McGann, the board, and all the staff of the DAA, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of the man involved. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time.”
