Dublin Airport will have recruited and trained 120 additional new passenger security staff by mid-June to address the impact of recently-enhanced security measures at the Airport.
By mid-June also, Dublin Airport will have opened an additional five passenger security screening channels, bringing the total number to 17.
Maximum queuing times at the Airport's passenger security areas are now 15 minutes at peak periods on weekdays, and 25 minutes at the busiest holiday traffic periods at weekends. As additional security personnel and equipment are brought on stream, this situation should further improve.
For the second successive year, a one hundred-strong task force of office-based airport staff and some seasonal recruits will be available on the terminal floor and in the baggage hall to assist passengers at busy periods throughout the summer season.
"We have moved as quickly as possible to direct additional resources into this priority area, given the physical constraints of the terminal building and the three-week training period for new security staff. By June we will have up to 45% more staff dedicated to passenger security screening," said Robert Hilliard - Director Dublin Airport.
"We would like to thank all our customers for their continuing patience and remind them that they can help us by checking-in at least ninety minutes before their scheduled flight departure times; by carrying just one item of hand luggage; and by ensuring they have nothing in their clothes or on their person that might require additional security checks."
