Dublin Airport Auth. Appoints New Chief Executive

The Board of the Dublin Airport Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of Declan Collier as chief executive of the company.

Mr Collier, who is 49 and from Dublin, has worked all his professional career with ExxonMobil one of the world’s largest commercial providers of energy, transportation services and infrastructure.

Currently based in London, he is ExxonMobil’s Alternative Fuels & District Heating Executive, Europe. In this role he has responsibility for the management of a number of key projects in the alternative fuels sector, principally the development of new markets, transportation fuels and processes.

In addition, he has responsibility for over 470 heating plants across Europe servicing district or group customers such as schools, hospitals and apartment complexes and through them, millions of individual consumers. These roles have brought him into close consultation with the Transportation and Energy Directorates of the European Commission and with various national governments on market and policy issues.

Prior to moving to the UK in 2002, he held a number of senior executive positions with Esso Ireland including, most recently, chairman and chief executive. Here, amongst other achievements, he was responsible for the €70m investment in Esso’s service station network in the Dublin region including the launch of the successful “On the Run” brand of forecourt retail outlets.

”The Dublin Airport Authority is at a challenging strategic stage in its role as a provider of airport services and infrastructure,” said Gary McGann, Chairman of the Dublin Airport Authority. “In this context, we are delighted to have secured someone of Declan’s calibre and experience.

“Declan more than matches all the key qualities we required to lead this company, which has relationships with a broad range of customers, stakeholders and regulatory authorities and whose business focus ranges from core airport operations, to the provision of critical infrastructure, property management and retail operations both at home and abroad,” he added.

Mr Collier, who will take up his new position in early April, said: “I am very pleased to be offered the opportunity to return to Ireland and to work with customers, staff and other key stakeholders of the Dublin Airport Authority in maintaining its track record of strong passenger growth and commercial expertise. I look forward to working with them to provide efficient, customer-focused airport services and infrastructure for the benefit of the Irish economy as a whole.”

Mr Collier is married with one daughter. He has an M.Sc (Econ) from Trinity College Dublin, where he also completed a BA Mod (Econ).
