Dublin Airport today, 26th April, welcomed the decision by the Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAR) to designate Dublin Airport as a coordinated airport with effect from the Summer 2006 season.
Dublin Airport is currently deemed a 'Schedules Facilitated' airport whereby the landing and departure times for every aircraft operating at the airport is agreed on a purely voluntary basis between user airlines and facilitated by an independent coordinator, ACL. From Summer 2006 Dublin Airport will become a coordinated airport enabling the independent slot coordinator, to determine the slots used by airlines when operating to/from the airport.
Welcoming the announcement by the CAR, Airport Director Robert Hilliard said "This is very good news for Dublin Airport and a decision we have sought for many years. It's a positive step for passengers at the airport because coordinated airports are better able to manage the peak arrival and departure times of aircraft, thereby easing some of the pressure on passenger facilities at those peak periods."
Ends
26th April, 2005
